here's to the time change

We sure are looking forward to the up coming time change to daylight savings time this weekend.... another hour of daylight at the end of the day will surely jumpstart our riding and training.

Congrats to Amber H on her purchase of Chex Out Little Lena...Amber is already off to a nice start with Chexie and we look forward to seeing Amber in the reining pen later this year...Amber & Chexi will continue their lessons with Kelly...

Glenn and I have a new addition to our horse family , we purchased a very nice daughter of Spark Master form Tucolta Creek Ranch. She's a 4YO chestnut mare out of a Boomernic daughter. She is nicely started and we look forward to finishing her as  a reiner and getting her to the show pen. This mare is way cute and has a very laid back personality, so we're hoping for good things from her.

another weekend on the way
Now Playing: reining shows

We had a very successful and fun show in Las Vegas..

Glenn and Top Gun Won IT were 2nd in the open and intermediate open, and swept the non pro, int., and limited Non pro.. they marked a 71 to win the non pro  class.

Rick & Smarty Pants Whiz won the Green as Grass class with a smooth 68 point run. They  were in the top 5 of the NRHA Rookie class for his second run of the day. Much improved from his Burbank runs.

Kelly & Showhizfun showed only once but had a smooth run and marked a 68-1/2 and were 2nd in the limited open and are now both NRHA money earners.

We're off and showing and have 2 NRHA shows on our schedule for March, we had a wonderful time in Vegas and enjoyed showing our horses. If you have an interest in reining and live in southern California...please drop by and visit or sign up for reining riding lessons.

warming up in california

Happy holidays and Merry Christmas all....We sure had a nice rain last week...very nice to have all the dust laid down....we had a nice vacation in Vegas during NFR had a nice relaxing time and fabulous shopping experience....be sure to ask Glenn about his butterflys :)

We're off to ride with Mike Boyle and crew for a few days during our Christmas break...hopefully the weather will be great but they have an indoor arena so rain won't be stopping us....

Glenn will start his reining 2010 campaign off at our January affiliate show....hopefully we'll have good weather up to that so he can get lots of quality practice in...

Gotta love the internet with the webcasts of the NRHA futurity, we really enjoyed watching the finals..congrats to all who made the finals...if you missing seeing these cool horses have a look at www.nrhafuturity.com for video clips of the winning runs.  The reining horse industry appears to be relatively strong.. have a look at the results from the 2YO prospects sale....

Be sure to talk to us if you are in the market for a finished reiner, we have a couple for sale. I hope to get updated pictures and videos of both done this weekend...Lessons are continuing to go on and if you need  help with your horse or want to find out about riding a reining be sure give Kelly a call...

Till next time....Merry Christmas.

december in California

Even without daylight savings we're still getting our horses rode with alot of help from our newly installed lights....our arena is nicely lit and energy effecient to...thanks to or friend Rick for his expertise and help getting the lights installed.

Rick Shepard is now the lucky new owner of Smarty Pants Whiz...he started his reining career off with marking a very nice 69-1/2 at our local ETI show..good job to both Rick & Whiz.

We have 2 new horses that we're offering for sale rigt now...one is a very solid 10YO palomino gelding, very thoroughly schooled finished reiner, he is absolutely a no nonsense kind of a horse that has a stellar great mind. He's already a favorite of all that ride him including me. Reasonably priced at $6000.00

We also have a 6YO Smart Chic Olena grand daughter, finished competitive reiner , lightly shown. She's Chex Out Little Lena. We think she'd also make a fabulous penner, extreme cowboy race, or versatility horse. Check her out, fairly priced at $7500.00.

Also congrats to Ron Schremp on his purchase of Fancy Boonlight, "georgia" will remain in training with Jimmy Flores JR, htey are looking forward to showing reined cowhorse in 2010.  Jimmy was also our sales agent :)

Finished reining gelding for sale

Top Gun Won It  7YO bay gelding 14.3hh (Top Gun Whiz X Hollywood Dun It daughter) NRHA reining earnings 1450.00

"Derby" is a very nice reiner, very well schooled and he knows his job. He has 1400.00+ NRHA earnings plus has wons saddles, buckles and other loot in the tough Northern California affiliate. Low show ring miles and an excellent willing to please attitude make him the total package. has marked 72-1/2 with a rookie rider and is certainly capable of the same for a new rider. No vices, no issues and ready to go now. Priced at 12500.00 and worth every penny of his price tag. This guy would also make a fabulous youth reining  horse.

The lights are done in our arena...yeah....those will be super nice for riding  this winter....maybe even a riding lesson or 2 after dark might be held...We're off sunday to show at our local show, it'll be a good test run for glenn's 3YO futurity  filly, she's be Whizard Jac..

Fancy Boonlight is going to be shown at a NRCHA event in Temecula next weekend..it'll be fun to see how she does...She's for sale so it'd be great to see her do well at her first reined cowhorse show..hopefully the cows will be good for her.

Ocotober
Now Playing: horse world

The horse world still remains relatively strong even with a staggering economy...Entries for the Morgan world show are down slightly but all things considered are still very good...I'm just back from driving out with and helping set up The Rushtons stable with 26 horses...the show starts saturday and runs a week..there is a webcast..be sure to look it up if you have interest in seeing what they do...www.morganhorse.com should get you there..

We are showing on sunday at our local ETI show with the reiners..should be a fun afternoon..they've had a good showing of competitive reiners at their first show.... we'll show all 3 horses hopefully...

later all

reiners
Now Playing: reiners

We hosted a very successful 1 day reining clinic with NRHA professional Tom Foran. Tom has a great program for instructing non pros and he was successful with our group. Tom is a great guy and if you get a chance to ride with him do take the opportunity. Our clinic hosting experience was very good and I think we'll try for another clinic some time this winter.

We also rode with NRHA professional Bill Norwood at his La Cresta ranch. We had a fun and informative day and can highly recommend riding with Bill for a day as well.

We think these affordable 1 day clinics are a very affordable way to get top quality instruction if yo have the opportunity be sure to take part.
